Charles Johnson has over the course of a year really earned my respect. His latest blog entry cements my view of him as a reasonable human being. Read this post entitled "Why I parted ways with right," which is a manifesto of sorts in condemnation of the lunacy and hate-agenda that we have all witnessed from the right-wing. My only criticism is that I think he should have used specific examples to illustrate his points rather than only naming individual hatriots.
For instance, he lists the following as one of the reasons he has broken with the right wing:
Support for bigotry, hatred, and white supremacism (see: Pat Buchanan, Ann Coulter, Robert Stacy McCain, Lew Rockwell, etc.)
This is an accurate statement, but without specific citations and links, comes off as simply finger-pointing.
Ann Coulter's comments alone could fill years worth of blog entries as an example of white supremacy, racism, and hatred.
Here is just one example of Ann Coulter's bigotry, in this case aimed at Jews:
COULTER: No, we think -- we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say.
DEUTSCH: Wow, you didn't really say that, did you?
See, this is far more damning than simply naming Ann Coulter and gives credence to his position, which I entirely agree with.
My suggestion is that Mr. Johnson edit his post, include links and specific citations. Those who will no doubt attack him for this (and have already begun) will find it more difficult to argue against what they themselves have said or written.
