Shhh, don't tell the rabid right-wing that one of the publications of choice has gotten $40 million a year from the Unification Church (Moonie cult). Rev. Sun Myung Moon founded the publication, but has claimed to have no involvement at all for many years:
"A wide-ranging affidavit by Washington Times editorial page editor Richard Miniter in the lawsuit he is filing against the Times provides a detailed picture of the inner workings of the newspaper that has been rocked in recent weeks by the canning of three executives and the resignation of its top editor.
Budget meetings Miniter attended show that the newspaper relies on a roughly $40 million annual subsidy, delivered weekly, from the Unification Church, he alleges in the affidavit. Church leader Rev. Sun Myung Moon founded the Times and his son Preston controls its parent company."
Really, just what type of Conservative credentials does the Rev. Sun Myung Moon have? Let's take a gander:
1. Moon claims to be the second coming of Christ. Not sure how the "left-behind" movement fits into this version of reality, but these crazies and the Moonie crazies seem to all get along nicely.
2. Moon and his offspring have been involved in arms trafficking. I don't remember Jesus selling poison laced chariots or arrows to his enemies to be used against his own people. I could be wrong, of course.
3. Moon, his sons, and his church have been involved in human trafficking. I guess this is sort of an extreme right-wing value, given the Abramoff-Delay world.

Crazy that this guy should have such a strong voice in the right-wing, no? But crazy seems to be the only voice of the extreme far right.
