I twittered about this yesterday, but thought I should blog about it as well:
"When you walk into the Georgia Peach Oyster Bar in Paulding County, you feel like you've walked into a different era.
Behind the pool tables stands a mannequin in a Klu Klux Klan costume, but it's what's outside of the Patrick Lanzo's restaurant that has some people angry.Lanzo put up a sign that reads "Obama's plan for health-care: N*&%*r rig it."CBS Atlanta's Michelle Marsh asked Lanzo why he put up the sign."I've been putting up signs for 22 years and I've put up all kinds of political signs," said Lanzo.“Why did you use the N word?” Marsh asked.“Well, I’ve used it most of my life. There are different ways to put your opinion up, but that's just the words I choose,” Lanzo answered."
Yeah, those damn darn word things. But what is fascinating is that he does not believe himself to be a racist - none of them do:
"Despite the sign, Lanzo said he's not a racist.
He said he's just against what he calls a "sub standard healthcare plan," which he said President Obama is trying to push through.Black and white people who live in the area say the sign is offensive and they want it down. Lanzo says he's exercising his free speech.“I stand by my president, but I also stand by my First Amendment right to criticize him if I feel he’s wrong,” Lanzo said."
Because the only way to criticize the President's policies is to call him the N word? Let me think here... racism? Um... could it be? Yes.
[MORE AFTER THE FOLD]
The Conservative Race?
In the meantime, professor American Power himself (the name says it all, no?), Donald Douglas is calling me a race-baiter for the title of my post yesterday, "Republicanistan - A country of its own." Here is what the professor of political science has to say about what I wrote:
Of course, with yesterday's big outrage over President Obama's Nobel award for his manifest non-accomplishments, the race-card maniacs are due out for another big showing today. Larisa Alexandrovna, for example, starts off the day with her entry, "Republicanistan - A Country of Its Own." Hmm, "Republicanistan"? Conservatives as Taliban?
The guy is not big on facts much as I have pointed out in the past. I did not call conservatives the Taliban. Rush Limbaugh did and I was simply riffing off of his own pride at siding with the Taliban. In addition, he entirely omits the legitimate criticism from both the left and the right of Obama's Nobel win that I defend and does not bother to mention the hate-driven criticism that I denounce on which the title is based.
That said, what race am I baiting exactly with the term Republicanistan? The Conservative race? And he teaches actual humans? Wow. But in making a big deal about this restaurant sign - which it is in any case - Donald Douglas is really just hoping to show himself as not a racist. He points over yonder and says "see" that is what racism looks like and I don't support that. But if you read his blog you will see a exactly why he is a racist. Douglas then goes on to claim the following:
"Larisa recently attacked me with this odd description, "Donald Douglas, is an ultra-nationalist, openly racist professor of political science." I guess that puts me in good company, with Michelle Malkin, for example: "Malkin and the Racists..."
I'm putting up Larisa Alexandrovna with Janeane Garofalo as a candidate for race-baiter of the year."
Odd description? Malkin is a racist. There is no debate on this from rational people, including actual Republicans, not the knuckle-dragging glue sniffing kind. Odd description? Not hardly. It is an entirely accurate description of a Muslim hating, birther peddling, racist, white power nationalist. If those terms offend you, then stop supporting those movements and championing those talking points. Otherwise embrace what you are and get it over with already.
More importantly, the issue I have with Douglas is not entirely his racism and such. He is after all just another racist out there writing and screaming hate. What bothers me about Douglas is his consistent dishonesty through misrepresenting and altering what I have written to fit his "radical leftists are out to kill us all" mentality.
The piece he cites in which I "attacked him" was actually my response to his attack on me, in which - once again - he claimed I had written something I had not. Here is my "attack" on him from that entry in which I cite exactly what I wrote compared to what he claims I wrote:
"The guy who runs this blog, Donald Douglas, is an ultra-nationalist, openly racist professor of political science. Although he is very proud not to be an anti-Semite (good for your Donald!). That should put your mind at ease that there are actually ethical people teaching our students. But he is claiming that I have said that the "right-wing" killed Sparkman. Really? And what does he cite from my blog as evidence that I have made such an extreme statement? He cites exactly what I posted at the top of this blog, namely:
"And I think that it is also fair to question the role Rep. Michelle Bachmann (the psychotic, drooling, knuckle-dragger, ill-informed conspiracy theorist, birther and hater masquerading as a member of Congress) jihad against the Census Bureau had something to do with it."
And where in that paragraph do you see anything about the right-wing killing Sparkman? But I will repeat again, it is entirely fair to ask how hate-speech is related to hate-crimes. This is called logic, which they apparently no longer teach political science professors."
He does it again with his race baiting idiocy today. Any award this dishonest man wants to give me in condemnation of me is an award I will gladly accept. When a racist gives you an award condemning you for calling them a racist, you accept it graciously and say thank you. So thanks Donald.
